Figs & Dates Pie

This super yummy recipe was prepared by Jeremy Attard, Senior Group winner from the Lamb Brand Kwalita' Malta Kids Competition 2016.

You will need:

For the filling

Lamb Brand Walnut Kernels 200g

Vita Natura Figs Garland 200g

Vita Natura Dates 200g

Hello Orange Juice, enough to cover figs and dates

Cooking Brandy 50ml

For the pastry

Lamb Brand Plain Auntie's Mix Flour 500g

Lamb Brand Castor Sugar 160g

Lamb Brand Vanilla Powder 1/2 tsp

Butter 220g

Eggs 2

All you have to do:

For the pastry 

Crumb together by hand the butter in to the flour.  Add the sugar and vanilla powder. Mix in the eggs to form a soft dough.


For the filling

1. Cut the dates and figs in small pieces.

2. Put them in a pan and cover them with the orange juice and cook until all the juice has evaporated.

3. Let the mixture cool for a while then add the brandy and walnuts.

4. Line an 8 inch tin with the sweet pastry and put the filling on top.

5. Cover with pastry using a lattice cutter and bake.
