Glacé cherries are stoned maraschino cherries that are candied in sugar syrup. As the cherry usually loses colour in the process, colouring is added making them distinctive and bright.  

Glacé cherries are very sticky. If baking them in cakes or breads, rinse off the sugar syrup, dry thoroughly and chop as required before adding to your batter or dough, this prevents the cherries from sinking to the bottom of the cake or bread.
